Jabloteh off to a winning start

Wednesday, February 21, 2018

San Juan Jabloteh picked up from where it left off in last season’s Flow Youth Pro League as the reigning triple-triple champions kicked off its 2018 campaign by winning all three matches against Defence Force at Trinity College East Ground, Trincity in the Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 Divisions on Sunday.

In the Under-14 encounter, ‘N’Kosi Ambrose (13th), Josiah Shadee (63rd) and Jahiem Faustin (65th), the son of former 'Strike Squad' midfielder Marvin Faustin, were all on target in a come-from-behind win after Jean-Pierre Reyes fired in a sixth minute opener for Defence Force.

Jabloteh had a much easier time in the Under-16 duel as Trent Weekes fifth minute opener was followed by second-half strikes from Jarique Williams (68th) and Nathaniel James (80th) in a 3-0 triumph.

However, in the Under-18, Jabloteh found much more of a battle and needed a Trevin Thomas 85th minute strike to secure a 1-0 win.

Also on Sunday last, St Ann’s Rangers and W Connection also won all their matches to share the early table leads with the regining champions.

St Ann’s Rangers got all their wins against Central FC at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium, Marabella while W Connection had the easiest of times, with wins by default over North East Stars.

This season, the Flow YPL calendar will see one round of league action (February 18 – April 22) before ending with the inaugural knockout competition (April 29 – May 27).

Overall, 30 teams involving hundreds of young players hoping to shine under the blanket of the ten (10) Pro League clubs – San Juan Jabloteh, W Connection, Central FC, Police FC, Defence Force, Morvant Caledonia United, Point Fortin Civic and St. Ann’s Rangers – will test their ability over the next four months to become champions.
